About me and my practice
I'm a fully qualified, Person Centred Counsellor (RMBACP) with over 24 years experience, based in Plymouth, Devon, UK, but due to the wonders of technology can counsel you from anywhere in the world, online.
However, if you do wish for face to face counselling I have a comfortable room ready to welcome you.
The following story is why I decided to become a Counsellor.
Nearly 30 years ago, my wifes father died and she was distraught. Whilst I comforted and helped in any way I could, she felt she needed to speak to someone not immediately involved in her situation. She went to see a Counsellor who helped her to cope and move forward after the death of her father. I was totally fascinated regarding how this unknown person could help my wife and I couldnt.
I wanted to understand more about this, so I booked on an initial understanding Counselling course, and I was totally inspired and for want of a better word hooked. Four years later and lots of hard work, I became a qualified counsellor.
Thankfully, and due to my training i have been able to help and assist many people through varied difficult times in their lives.
Experience
I can help you by discussing your current issues, including Anger Management, Domestic Violence. I am qualified to work with both the victims and the abusers. It is a specialist area in counselling and I have worked with many people including completing Court reports where necessary.
I work a lot with couples as well, assisting them with communication and family issues of all types. I remind them that something as simple as date nights can be an important part of any relationship, they dont have to be expensive meals out perhaps a walk and some chips sat side by side. Discussing how your week has been, and just the being together is so vital.
Maybe you are lacking in confidence, and we can discuss ways to gain this important personality skill back.
Depression, can be so debilitating for people, you just want to shut yourself away sometimes and forget the world outside exists. Together we can help you to overcome these sometimes desperate feelings, and once again enjoy your life.
